Snapshots, Volume Shadow, etc and Backup Exec

We are currently running BE 10 on a windows 2000 Server. I would like to use it to backup a couple of Windows 2003 Servers that are across a T1 Link. Ideally, take a "Snapshot" of the remote volume, back that up to a local Disk, and then backup that local disk to tape.
I'd like to do the "Snapshot" because there is to much data to just copy between the disks, and the snapshots take much less disk space.

Am I going to need the Advanced Open File Option to achieve this, or is there something I can do with Volume Shadow Copy on Windows 2003?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for submitting this support query. Backup Exec will utilize Volume Shadow Copy service(VSS) of remote Windows 2003 servers to perform snapshot backups. If the remote computer are Windows 2003 servers then Advanced Open File Option is not required to perform the snapshots. Backup Exec can utilize the VSS on Windows 2003.

Tim,

I have a similiar situation as yours. Did you ever implement the backup of snapshots from your remote servers?
