The backup of the item is bad

I get this error when attempting to backup my Exchange Public Folders. Everything was working OK until a user created a new folder and moved some messages which were corrupt and which had been excluded from the backup job.

I've attempted to re-exclude the corrupt messages but I keep getting this error message. There is no log file to consult, the job fails before it can create one.

When I attempt to do a test run, I get the error message: "The job failed with the following error: Job failed running its test run. See logfile for details." Problem is, there is no log file! :(
