Uninstall Symantec Backup Exec Remote Agent 12.5

I have recently moved to Backup Exec 2010 and am having problems to backup Exchange 2007.

Backup log indicated The exchange server "running a previous version of the Backup Exec Remote agent.

I checked the exchange server and it is indeed running Symantec Backup Exec Remote Agent 12.5.

Note: I have the proper key added for Symantec Backup Exec 2010 Agent for MSFT Exchange added with other keys in the Symantec Core product and best I can tell there is no old legacy agents in the same Key area.

Q: Is there a way to delete the 12.5 Agent from my exchange server?

Q: I assume once t his is removed then teh system should identify the BE Agent for 2010 for Exchange?

Regards,

Ron

Hi Ron

Instead of uninstalling the remote agent try to upgrade it by either pushing out or by performing manual installation of remote agent.

Push install remote agent http://support.veritas.com/docs/274163

Manuall installation http://support.veritas.com/docs/265736

If the remote agent is not getting updated  then uninstall the remote agent through Add\Remove programs and then reboot the server.

After reboot try to install BE 2010 remote agent, you may follow one of the above article.

Note: If you are not able to uninstall the remote agent then refer to this article..http://support.veritas.com/docs/318211

As amol suggested you can either upgrade the remote agent on the Exchange server  or simply uninstall the remote agent from add remove program ...

The exchange agent is installed on the Media server i.e just by enteroring the license key for MS exchange when you run the installation .Once you have the license key installed backup exec allows you to select infromation store in the backup selection and allows you to run thea online backup of exchange
On the exchange server you just install backup exec remote agent .once you remove the 12.5 agent you would need to install backup exec 2010 remote agent on the exchange server
you can refer the documents suggested by amol
Push install remote agent http://support.veritas.com/docs/274163
Manuall
installation http://support.veritas.com/docs/265736

The procedure to upgrade the remote agent would remain the same .
Hope this helps
