Using BE Administrator with non-admin accounts

I have BE 10 for Windows Servers installed & working well on a server. I have on my desktop the BE Administrator.

When starting the BE Administrator, I am promted for a user ID at the "Connect to Media Server" prompt. If I use an account with Domain Admin rights, I can connect. I'd like to setup a non-admin login ID to view backup jobs, see what tapes are in the library, etc.

I'm not talking about the acount BE uses - just the account I use to get into the administrator.

Thanks!

Hello,

You need to have administrator rights in order to backup and restore. Refer to the following technote for more information:

What rights does the Backup Exec service account need?

Hope that answers it. In case you need mor einformation, revert to the forums.

If you don't want to actually "administer" BackupExec, but just monitor it, reply to Alerts, and possible release previously defined jobs, take a look at ExecView, rather than RemoteAdministrator
