Using IDR, can not install network driver

Larry_Hornibroo

While doing a IDR restore, network driver will not install.

Dell 1600sc, with Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Card, w2003 server sp1.

Errors in bedrwiz.log file shows the error but don't know how to fix it!

I have tried 2k and 2k3 drivers for the nic, put them on a floppy drive and loaded from there, same errors... The Nic does work.

Seriously - Forget about IDR. it saves you no time essentially

Just do a standard DR. See the Admin Guide

Hello Larry,

seems to be the same error we have (see forum thread http://forums.symantec.com/discussions/thread.jspa?forumID=115&threadID=69923). We're in contact with support since a while, but have no solution yet.

Greetings

Thanks for the response. Yes, it does look like we are dealing with the same problem! And it seems like the best answers is not to use IDR at all. I can't believe that Veritas Support can't come up with a fix for something like this. It doesn't matter what driver you try to load, which I have tried all that are available from Dell, still will not load. It's a shame that Veritas does not support a Dell Server class server with standard NIC card. We have 15 Dell servers in our shop and all have the same NIC. I suppose that IDR is not an option for us.

Just FYI, IDR will work if you put a temporary 3COM NIC in for the process, manually load 3COM drivers and remove after restore is complete.

This Issue is resolved in Hotfix 9 for Backup Exec for Windows Servers. The download can be found here

Yes, That did seem to fix the problem loading the NIC drivers. Silver star goes to Veritas for fixing this bug in their software! Patch 9 works!
