This thread describes the exact issue one of our customers is having"

http://forums.veritas.com/discussions/thread.jspa?messageID=4429040铰

However, they do not want to reload SP1 so they would like to go with solution #1. IE: There are two ways to resolve this issue, 1) to replace the files giving problems the easier but a bit unsafe way since replacing those files might break some other functionality in the OS

Could you please tell me what file(s) need to be replaced for option #1?

What is interesting is that the ntbackup command works fine backing up the System State, it's just BackupExec having a problem!

Hello,

The link to thr thread that you have given, might be explaining the same issue. But these resolutions are mostly environmetal based.
Could you explain your environment in detail before we could go ahead with it?

Also, the part that you have mentioned here it says 'Replace files giving Problems'. So it depends on the files that are making problems to you.
Apart from that, since this is concerning the SP of Windows, MS will be in a better state to help you with this.

NOTE: As mentioned, this is an unsafe way.

Thanks

I worked with Veritas support and they verifed we were having the exact same issue, however they were unable to provide any help other then to reload SP1. We worked for several days now reloading SP1 on 50+ systems. This was certainly not the way we wanted to go, but could not wait any longer without getting a full backup. What is unfortunate is that Veritas support was unable to get someone in development involved so they could tell us more details on why it was failing.
