backup exec claims that there is <blank media> in the tape drive

A few months ago our tape drive was broken. So we bought a new one with a larger capacity. To still have the possibility to restore the old DAT24 tapes we also bought an internal SONY dat 24 drive. When we want to restore files from the internal DAT 24 drive, Backup exec claims that there is blank media in the drive which is not the fact. We tried already an inventory on the drive and a retension job, but still backup exec claims that the tape is blank.

Hello,

Run the device configuration wizard and check if the device is detected by Backup Exec .

From the hardware compatibility list given below please check if the drive is tested. if it is tested then install the latest Veritas drivers and verify results.

I installed the drivers which I downloaded from the veritas site. After that I had to restart the server. When I started backup exec I was presented a configuration wizard which detected the compaq dst 10000 drive. But still BE claims there is blank media in the drive.

Hello,

Please update the firmware of the drive.
