backup exec throwing out errors but continues to run

JPPiper

I have the following enviroments

Windows 2008 R2 64 bit
Backup Exec 2010 - fully patched and updated

Backup Exec will run, (Actually runs for 14 hours)
When I set up the job I browse all my servers fine

Backing up a couple of servers and my exchange 2003 server

I also have a NETAP SAN Share
I can browse it and pick the folders I want to backup

When I run a backup, I get a error code of : E000FE36

Backup- storage1
Remote Agent not detected on storage1.

Backup
Access is denied to Remote Agent.  Check the login account for the specified device.

Here is some more information

Backup- storage1
V-79-57344-3844 - The media server was unable to connect to the Remote Agent on machine storage1.

The media server will use the local agent to try to complete the operation.

V-79-57344-65277 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\storage1\Storage1Data$". Advanced Open File O...

I fully understand the Remote Agent thing
However when I was running Backup exec 12.5, I did not get a "backup failed message"
I would get a message that the job complete but with exceptions

You can see in the job log that it connected and the files get backed up
I just hate seeing that "failed message"

Also while we are discussing it, anyway to buy an agent or something like that for NETAP

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated

Hi JP,

Is that NAS on the BE 2010 HCL?

First things first, and that is to confirm that...if it isn't there, it doesn't mean it WON'T work, but Symantec won't offer support.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH137050

Secondly, has the NAS been set up to use the same username/password as you use in BE 2010?

Thanks!

Sorry I am backing up to a overland device  which is on the list and works fine

The NAS is where I have network storage

Yes I am using the same user ID and Passwords

AKA Domain Admin

Is the option " Display progress indicators for backup jobs " checked under BE GUI - Tools - Options - Preferences ? If it is, un check it & the error message should disappear..

Please check the following:

1) -Create a new job and just try to backup that share

2)- Make sure Backup exec System logon account is added  to admin /share permission of those folders

3)- NDMP is disabled on netapp

4)- Also do not check AOFO for this job
