how to find out where the Backup Exec SQL database is located

Hiya!

I am writing a custom script that extracts information directly from the SQL database of Backup Exec for use in our server monitor system.

However Backup Exec is not installed on all servers in the same way.
Some use a MSDE, some use a locally installed SQL server and some use a remote SQL server.

How can I find out where the Backup Exec database is located?

Many thanks in advance,

From inside of Backup Exec, go to Tools - Backup Exec Diagnostics.  Run the diagnostics, it will open a text document when completed.  Look for this line: "Database Connection String:"  That line will list the database server and instance name Backup Exec is using.

This is still a manual process, have to do this by hand for all our clients is not really an option.
I would like to be able to determine it from code.

Now that is something I'm not allowed to help with.

I can not really see why revealing this information about how to get the database location would pose any problem.
In fact it would be an extra selling point for us to push our clients to use, since we can get more and better information about the status of their backup and therefore offer them better services.
