As I am coming to stay only for a day or two to get a problem resolved...

This forum also happens to be, compared to almost every other, awkward in appearance and it took me a while to even get here, and I was happy once I realized I was actually in the process of finally making a topic, lol. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow I am unable to find this topic!

And forgive me if this is not the right forum for this, as I did not find what I was looking for in the categories. It is about Windows Security Alerts in Vista. I have Symantec AV Corp Edition 10.2 (which is the version for 64 bit Vista) HOWEVER, it is "not reporting to Windows Security Alerts in a format that is supported" meaning it can't report to it anymore because it's currently doing so in a format that is NOT supported.

So, I found out via Google there is a fix for this HOWEVER, I have not come to fully understand WHAT IS NEEDED to get that fix. I am 90% sure though it is not something I can get for free.

Is this right? Because, my Symantec AV needs this vista upgrade, do I need to pay anything? What is needed so that I get the benefit of having Windows Security Alerts on my Vista detect my Symantec AV program. Please, please help me with this. This has been a problem for me for weeks now.

To solve this problem do the following:

1. Temporarily disable the WMI service (Windows Management Instrumentation) in: Start ->Run -> type: services.msc and in there find and stop WMI
2. Next delete the C:\windows\system32\wbem\repository folder, wait for it to recreate (it can take a bit of time.)
3. Restart the WMI service & restart the computer
