changing BIDFILE expiry affects backup image retention?

and upon suggestion from the TN https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000100674

is extended the SLP.BIDFILE_CLEANUP_DELAY to 14 days (default 5).

now, i have backup images on disks lying there and consuming space. although i have SLP that says to expired after completing duplication.

does the setting SLP.BIDFILE_CLEANUP_DELAY affect SLP such that after duplication, the backup images remain on disk?

the real problem that you have is not able to complete the Duplication jobs, you need to fix the duplication job failure issue.

as i have specified in other threads of your, BID files does not have any relation with expiring the backup image.

It honestly seems that we keep on going round in circles...

The BID-file purely controls the timeout in Activity Monitor queue.

I told you in my reply 2 weeks ago in this discussion :

Please bear in mind that only the duplication job has failed. The source backup is still intact as the retention level is set to infinity until all secondary tasks have completed.

SLP will automatically retry the failed duplication.

So, the principal of SLP remains: 
The backup retention of an SLP is set to infinity. 
When the duplication job completes, the SLP retention for the backup is applied.

yes i got that. but i'm breaking my head on is why is it taking a long time for the duplication to kick in? as per the default settings of SLP, it should've kicked in anytime within the 24 hours when the backup finished. but no it didn't, as shown by my Oct 15th backup only now the duplication is running.

yes there is a problem with the duplication and this is what i'm trying to figure out.
