I do not have unlimited capacity to backup data, so i must be selective on what goes to tape. migrated pst contents I migrated pst files, set shortcut age for 2 years. As days go by, mail items within the migrated pst folder continue to age(of course). How do i systematically remove the items so that nothing over 2 years from today is in there? for example: today is July 29 2007, and i have items in there that are from July 1, 2005. i would like to see the oldest item in there being july 29, 2005. I suspect that someone will say "expiry" is the solution, but i don't necessarily want to expire items in the general mailbox folders, just in the personal folders that were migrated. Re: PST migration status completing, doesn't change to completed , can not delete the entry Its been a few weeks since i ran into this problem, so i can't offer exact directions. But, in the "files" window, delete all completed, delete all "do not migrate", and delete all "ready to migrate", etc......Basically clean the window out so that all you see is the one that is "completing". Next, log into the sql server and open up the Vault Directory database. I don't remember the exact table, but I believe that its one of the ones that start w/ "pst". Once you have found the right table, you will see that file that is in the completing state. If you have cleared out all others, that should be the only one you see. Delete that row from the database. You should then be able to go back to EVadmin console, refresh "files" and the entry will no longer be there. That's the only way that i found to remedy that problem that you are experiencing. M pst retention policy If your PST migration policy utilizes a different retention policy than your mailbox, will the folder in your outlook folder list that contains the migrated pst files have a different retention policy than the rest of your mailbox that is being archived, or would the migrated pst folder inherit the retention policy of the entire mailbox? Just wondering why there is the option to set a retention policy on the default pst migration policy. Re: EV with SQL 2005 SP2 you should have no problems with that. We ran it on sql2000 and then upgraded sql to 2005, sp2 and had no troubles whatsoever. Re: expiry second part of the question: if i vault an item, w 2 year expiration, then later decide to change my expiration to 3year, will the item vaulted at 2 years retain a 2 year expiration, or will it change to a 3yr expiration. expiry there's a bit of a debate between my colleague and I regarding expiry of vaulted items. item X is vaulted with a 2 year expiry time from vault date. if the item is 5 years old and has not been touched since its creation date, will it automatically meet the expiry criteria and be immediately expired and deleted, or will it stay in the vault for the 2 year term and then be expired? remove items from vault I have been testing version 7sp1 prior to going production. I vaulted way too many items in my file system archiving test, and would like to remove them from storage. What's the easiest, and cleanest way to do this? Re: fsa- cannot retrieve vaulted items nevermind.......tried deleting targe, then installing placeholder at same time as adding file server target, and was successful. fsa- cannot retrieve vaulted items just completed upgrade to v7.0, sp1 from 6.3. Cannot retrieve vaulted documents. Mail archiving is working just fine. Any suggestions.
