Backup Symantec Enterprise Vault 9 with CommVault Simpana 9
We have a client that is running Symantec Enterprise Vault 9 and is using Commvault Simpana 9 as their backup solution. Is there an CommVault Simpana 9 agent for Symantec Enterprise Vault? Hi, Breaking this question out from another thread. Having installed the new HTTP only client, I cansee an Enterprise Vault menu in Outlook 2010, with the new "Store" and "Restore" buttons. However, trying to archive produces the error "You cannot archive items from this location",. and restoring produces "You cannot restore items to this location. If you are trying to restore from a shortcut, copy and move it to your mailbox and then restore". (This info is erroneous). Double-clicking on a vaulted item, however, restores it. Rob has suggested that itsounds like I'mtrying to archive something inmy virtual vault folders. Unfortunately I'm not sure what's meant by virtual vault folders. I am having problems with Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP1 with all updated as of (18th December) being able to view Enterprise Vault v9 SP2. If I remove and reinstall backupexec the SSL hand shake works for a week and then fails again and no backups. This is the only server affected from 2 Media Servers both running Windows 2008 R2 SP1. If I use a 2003 SP2 X86 I can see the data partitions and all is working correctly. After upgrading to Enterprise Vault v9.0.3 (from v9.0.2), the Enterprise Vault job running on Backup Exec 2010 R3 (v13.0 Rev 5204 Hotfixes 108429 and 176937) now hangs / stalls either whilst backing up the EVPublicFoldersVS Store, or sometimes when initially placing the first EV entities into backup mode. Previously to the EV upgrade, the job was running successfully with no errors. When it hangs, the job will not cancel and the Backup Exec services have to be restarted in order to clear the job. Restarting the Backup Exec Enterprise Vault Agent also does not allow the job to be cancelled. Unusually there are no errors logged in the failed job report (other than that the RPC was terminated due to the services restart). There are similarly no errors logged in the Event Viewer on either the Backup Exec or Enterprise Vault servers. According to the logs, the job appears to be bringing the various vaults in and out of backup mode as expected. However, the job appears to stall as if it is waiting for something to respond / signal for it to continue. The Enterprise Vault Agent is up to date with the Backup Exec Server build. The environment is a single Backup Exec Media Server connected to an HP MSL4048 LTO3 Library. Enterprise Vault is running as a Virtual Machine in vSphere 5.0. I have tried re-installing the Backup Exec Agent on the EV server, and re-creating the selection list and associated job. Other jobs running on the server include a SQL, File and Exchange backup, all of which are running fine and completing normally. hello, i have upgraded our EV Environment to EV 9.0.1. We are using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 on the client. Since i have a problem with mailboxes which where disabled prior to the upgrade not archiving any mails, i have an ongoing support call with symantec. they asked me to zap the mailboxes using evpm and try again. According to other threads this could really sort things out, but unfortunately i am unable to create the privileged MAPI Session. i am alwas getting the following: Creating privileged MAPI session ... Error creating privileged MAPI session The eventlog shows the following error: An error has been reported by ConfigureMsgService. It may be due to a problem contacting a Global Catalogue Server. Exchange Server: PLATSRV055 Mailbox: _evs@pierre-lang.com Error: MAPI_E_NETWORK_ERROR 0x80040115Creating privileged MAPI session ... Error creating privileged MAPI session According to Symantec Support this refers to a problem with the Global Catalog and i should use a registry key to use a certain global catalog. According to Microsoft this setting is no longer in use with exchange server 2010 and should not be used! Exchange 2010 uses the Client Access Server instead. I have no idea how to zap the mailboxes. Any Ideas what could cause the problem? I have just noticed that i cant manually vault an email as its returnign the following error message Could not process the selected items. Reason: Enterprise Vault is currently unavailable. Try again later Not sure when this started happening as ive been off the previous week, but was working before that, also i can retrive an archived email from the vault wthout any problems. We need an EV Outlook add-in service pack or upgrade that works in Outlook 2010. Your Enterprise Vault 9 product , not due until the end of the year, is far to late for us to wait. I am rather shocked that a company such as Symantec would not have already issued updates that provide functionality with major player new software. THis is a major disappointment.
