Maximum Vault Cache size for virtual vault users!
Hello, I am testing virtual vault with my test users. It is rolled out successfully so far with the testers, but according to the default setting on the virtual vault desktop policy. The cache size on the users workstation has went upto 5 - 6GB depending upon the free space on the users computer of which it uses 10% (I hope i get it right) Now i want to limit the max cache size for the user to 2GB - I have modified the vault cache desktop policy to restrict cache size to 2GB - Re-ran provisioning task and synchronized the test mailboxes But it doesn't seems to be taking effect. I have been reading on some other forums and it appears to be that its the initial setting that is taken into consideration no matter if you change the policy later it still keep the initial value. Please suggest........!!!!Solved2.1KViews1like3CommentsHow to seprate the EV server for PST migration ????

Hi all, Many people have added comments to forum posts over the last week or two that they have problems getting to documentation attached to technotes (eg the Compatibility Guide and so on). If you encounter problems, please add it to this thread, with the following information in it : Attempted Doc download: (example: ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Exchange_Mailbox_Archiving_Unit/276547.pdf) Date/Time accessed : Location in the world : Thanks987Views0likes7CommentsEV 8.0.2 Command Not Available when workin offline - Cached Exchange Mode
I apologize if this question has already been answered, but Ifound no answer when searching the forums. We are running EV 8.0.2, Outlook 2003, Windows XP. If Outlook is in cached exchange mode, archive explorer is not available. When clicking the archive explorer button an error is returned "Command not available when working offline". If cached exchange mode is turned off everything works fine. This is a problem especially for our laptop users that travel. Is there a fix for this? I see questions regarding this going back to EV7.5 (EV2007) but I see no answers.Solved749Views0likes3CommentsMove EnterprisVault, SQL and filer to a different domain in the same forest
Hi everyone, We'll need to move the Enterprise Vault environment to a centralized solution, which will be implemented in one of the domains in the forest. All domains in the forest trust each other. The current solution is based on the following: 1. Users domain called users.company.net The domain contains the user accounts of the users. 2. Resources domain called resources.company.net The resources domain contains the following: Exchange 2003 server (that hosts the mailboxes of the users); Enterprise Vault 8 SP2 (archives the mailboxes hosted on the exchange server) SQL Server 2005 used by the EV server NetApp filer that contains the vault stores of the EV. The partitions are set as “Network Shares”. 3. Domain new_domain.company.net The domain contains the following at the moment: Exchange 2007 Server (where the mailboxes from the Exchange 2003 server will be moved) The plan is to move the archiving solution from the domain resources.company.net to the domain new_domain.company.net. The mailbox moves can be performed before or after the server migrations, so it’s not a big issue. My questions are the following: Q1 If we move the filer to the new_domain, the filer will be accessible as filer.new_domain.company.net (instead of filer.resources.company.net). How can we update the existing partitions to point to the new path? Q2 Are there some articles or best practices that we could use to perform the SQL server move to the new_domain? Q3 How can we move the EV server to the new_domain? We plan to keep the same service account for EV. Are there some articles that could guide us on performing this step? Thank you in advance! Iknow that the only thing you can do is to edit those .fdm forms that we install in the Exchange but Icannot find a utility that can do this. As for the OWAicons Iknow that it is more complex and Istill trying to find what must be changed. Any help would be great. Hi All, I currently have an issue with EV 8 SP3Reporting on SQL 2008 x64. after the inital install and config ofEV reporting i am able to connect to the reports and set up subscriptions with no issues. After i close the Page and try and connect again the Reports home page takes forever to open. I have tried re installing MSSQL Reporting Services, recreated the the Default web sites and applied the defaults to them. Recreated the SQL DB for reporting and again running the EVReports config, I get the same results. it opens perfectly the first time it is run there after it is slow. regards Meatball533Views0likes2CommentsDifferent Schedules?
Using EV 8.0 SP3, is it possible to schedule different provisioning groups to run the archiving task at different times? Singple exchange 2k3 server, single EV server. This is what I'm looking for... Provisioning group 1 - Shared, Service mailboxes - immediate archiving and indexing of all data to ensure all data is immediately sent to the archive. Indexing is the key here. No shortcut creation until 6 months, so the original item is in the mailbox and archive until 6 months after it is archived. Provisioning group 2 - Other users, daily archiving in evening of items older than 6 months. Create shortcuts and index as soon as data is archived. Desktop policies for vault cache enabled. Provisioning group 3 - Other users, daily archiving in evening of items older than 6 months. Create shortcuts and index as soon as data is archived. Desktop policies for vault cache disabled. Provisioning group 4 - Old employees. No desktop policies. Everything archived. I was thinking I could enable/disable archiving per provisioning group depending on the times I want them to be running, and then the archiving task. Seems like there's no way to automate this? Any suggestions? Could I do it through the database and issue a SQLcommand againt it to set the provisioning groups to enabled when necessary? I'm fairly new to this...sorry!361Views0likes2Comments
