Hi, I installed Symantec System Recovery backed up my system. It produced a file\folder package as seen in the attachment (capture001.png). I then restored my system to factory defaults This is esentially a complete re-install of windows from a recovery partition I then did the experimentation that I needed to do with "fresh" system I then re-installed Symantec System Recovery and was looking to restore back to the original backed up version, but am not sure how to do that. The obvious route of using "Recover my Computer" is intended for when the backups have been taken on the same system. In my case I've done the windows re-install in between so obviously in that table there's no backups listed. Then I thought there must be a way to import the backup I have stored (capture001.png) There's Recover my Computer\Tasks\Custom recovery option which brings up a wizard that requires to provide a single recovery point filename and expected filetype is V2I In my backu up folder I have 3 of those (I asume tehre were 3 partitions backed up in the process of doing full system backup) So which one should I pick? (Capture002.png) Should be the C Drive I suppose, but I'm not sure. I wonder if there's some magic way to restore all 3 of the files at the same time? Also if I'm restoring the C: should I be choosing all of these options (Capture003.png) ? How would this restore work if I'm restoring the system of which I'm currently running of? Does it reboot and then do some magic before windows has loaded? Surely windows c drive cannot be overwritten while OS is runing of off the same drive. Any advice would be helpful. I had installed on my notebook System Recovery 2011, it was running smoothly for several months. I haven't run a backup job for a couple of months, and now the task is there but I can't run it, as it's greyed. The reason ? No disk drive is shown if you try to edit the task settings, or define a new backup ... (see the attached image, if it's shown..) Upgraded to System Recovery 2013 hoping that the issue would be solved, but with no luck.. The problem is still there.. Any suggestions ?Solved4.3KViews1like22Commentsbackup & restore performance
how to improve backup and restore performance(For example I am running a backup or restore operation it is taking 10 hours (consider ) then I need it to finish it within 5 hours or below mean as early as possible is it possible or not if possible means how Give me an example )Solved962Views1like3CommentsIDR restoration of complete site from tape duplicate
I need to work out a scenario for recovering a complete site from the archive tapes The site consists of: Two AD DCs, one holding the DR backup folder. The BE 2010 R3 backup server. Additional servers, Sharepoint, SQL, file shares etc. The backups are made to disk, with the full backups duplicated to LTO tapes. The policy enforced also makes it impossible to login to any server not connected to the AD, including the BE server. Having read other forum questions, I have trouble coming up with a workable solution for restoring the complete site from the tapes. The easiest solution (I thought), would be to hook up the tape drive to the AD DC, restore that one from tape, then restore the BE server from tape, then restore the other servers from network. At this point, I really don't know how to go about the restore, since the IDR disc will not restore from anything but the disk backups, that in this scenario would have burned up together with all other servers (or similar). Is there something I have overlooked? That you cannot point to another backup set location is really a disappointment.Solved785Views1like3CommentsSPS SBE - SSR 2011: I am very frustrated and quite disappointed...
I just installed Symantec Protection Suite - Small Business Edition Symantec System Recovery 2011 on a Window 7 PC that is part of a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain. Following the PC's reboot, I received the following error message when SSR launched: Unable to load configuration information blah, blah, Error 80040154 I used Google to search for "Symantec System Recovery 2011 80040154" and found that there was a batch fix file. I followed the directions and ran it. I restarted the PC and launched SSR and I received the following error message: E1AD312: You do not have sufficient privileges to perform this operation Now, I found this very strange because I was using "run as Administrator" to start the program. I used Google to search for this error message and found that there was a fix; I had to register another DLL. Once again, I started the program and tried to run the first wizard, and I received the following error message: E1AD27F0: Cannot determine protection Object reference not set ot an instance of an object At this point, I have spent close to an hour trying to launch a program. That - simply put - is absurd! I don't even have the patience to contact support right now, I'm afraid I'm going to throttle someone.Solved1.3KViews1like20CommentsSymantec System Recovery 2011 very slow backing up Exchange 2010
I am trying to backup our Exchange 2010 server and so far it is failing after around 20 hours when backing up the drive with the database on. The drive has around 128 GB of data on a 300GB drive. I can backup the server using BE2010 R3 in around 2 hours without any issues so I am surprised it is taking so long with System Recovery 2011 (version 10.0.1.41704). The server is a Windows 2008 R2 VM running on a Windows 2008 Server R2 Hyper-V Host. The Guest VM is on an iSCSI SAN. The servers and storage are on Gigabit LANs. The iSCSI SAN is on a dedicated LAN. The backup location is not on the SAN. Is there a reason why it is taking so long with System Recovery and is there anything I can do to improve the performance?496Views1like2Comments
