Again, to restore BE to what it is before any crash, you need to copy the Data and Catalog directories under the BE installation directory.
On you new system, after you have installed BE,
1) you need to catalog the tape to which you have backed up the Data and Catalog directories.
2) You then re-direct restore them to another directory.
3) Shutdown BE.
4) replace the existing Data and Catalog directories with the old ones.
5) start up BE again and you would have restored BE to what it was during the time of the backup
