Evault Upgrade to ver 10

Hello All,

 

We need to upgrade to the latest version of Evault and we are currently on a Win2003 server.  I need to create a new 2008R2 server and upgrade but nowhere in the documentation does it explain this type of upgrade.  Can anyone tell me what steps need to be taken?  Do I need to install version 9 on the new server then upgrade or is there another way to get this done?  Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

    Hi Pman,

    You can use the Enterprise Vault Server Settings Migration Wizard to accpomplish this task:

    If you are running Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 or later, this tool allows you to migrate to 64-bits hardware and Enterprise Vault to 10. The technote above has a PDF with more details about it.

    Pman,

    That's Enterprise Vault 9.0.0. If you want to use this tool, you need to upgrade to, at least, Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 and then run the tool to create the migration package. You should be able to download Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 or later versions from http://fileconnect.symantec.com/ using your EV serial number.

    Otherwise, you would need to install 9.0.0 on the new server, move the Enterprise Vault installation and then upgrade to 10.

    Thanks for the quick response!  Got another question for you.  Not sure my version is at the correct one for using this tool.  Currently my old server is at version 9.0.0.1193.  Is there a service pack out there??  Thanks again for the reply!

    The problem that I have is that when I put in my serial number it only takes me to a version 8 download.  I can't seem to find a place to go that has the version 9 downloads.

    Pman,

    You need to contact your SYMC account manager to assist you with the serial number.

    You might be better off contacting Customer Care, not EV Support.  They can assist you in getting the upgrade media as long as you have a valid maintenance contract.
