Outlook 2016 (office 365) / EV-Addin 12.0.0.1528: MSPTLS.dll is not compatible with MS Outlook

Hi Guys,

Outlook 2016 - Ofifce 365 - Version 16.0.6965.2092
EV-Addin Version 12.0.0.1528 - With EV Cache Mode and Enabled Virtual Vault
Exchange 2010 Version 14.3.123.4
EV-Server 12.0.0.1528

After starting Outlook 2016 on Windows 7 Clients, directly an error message pops up: "MSPTLS.dll is not compatible with Outlook" like described in

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000116342

Can anyone explain the error and how to fix it, workarounds with disabling EV-Addin or roll-back Office Updates is not very well. The image of EV should be getting better with EV and Virtual Vault, now the image at user side is decreasing more and more.

My users have generally been very pleased with the EV-IMAP access to their archives.  You might consider that option.

  • Problem is solved by getting a new EV Addin by Veritas,

EV_12.1.1_PointHotfix_ETrack_3903518 ist available and here is the Hotfix description:

EV client causes error in latest Office 365 ProPlus Client

    Problem-Description :

If Virtual Vault is used with the most recent release of the Office 365 Outlook 2016 32 Bit Click-to-Run Version, Outlook fails to start and displays the folllowing error: The File msptls.dll is incompatible with Microsoft Outlook. Install Oútlook again.

    Description of Solution:

The Enterprise Vault Outlook-Addin is now compatible with the latest Outlook 2016 32 Bit Click-to-Run version.

  • Mostly you're stuck until Veritas updates the client and since we're talking about Win7 here, it's a long shot since Win7 is going out of support in general.  Another option is to  remove the EV client and configure EV-IMAP as an alternative access method.

      Thx for your answer!

      That's what I'm frightened for.

We came from Offline Cache with Shortcuts and Online Mode and we wanted to switch from these both policysets to one with Offline Cache with addtional Virtual Vault without Shortcuts, as mandatory we have to archive all mails and provide them offline in Cache mode.

Switching back to Shortcuts is to high impact and we had problems with to many items in folders.

I think it's the best to roll back the Office 365 version and stop the Office update procedure.

At the moment users are uninstalling EV-Client Add-in without support.
