Hi,

I have a robotic Tape Library connected to a SAN through an ISCSI connection. how can i connect the Backup Exec server to view the robotic library with out connecting it to the robotic library directly.

Can i connect the backup exec server to the SAN? Is it doable?

Regards,

Hi,

Yes of course it is possible. Steps would be as follows:

1. Find a compatible FC card/s for your server. Install them, load the drivers and run cables from your media server to the SAN switches.

2. Zone the library for the media sevrer and verify that you can see the robotics (should show as Unknown Medium Changer in Device Manager) and the drives in Device Manager. Run tapeinst.exe to install the Symantec drivers for the tape drive/s.

3. Restart the BE services and the tape library should show up in BE. Configure your jobs accordingly.

The other option if you can't procure the FC HBA card/s, then use NDMP instead.
