We're running Backup Exec 10 v5484 on a Windows 2000 SP4 server. The server it's trying to connect to is a Windows 2003 SP1 server with port 10000 TCP open for Bacup Exec. We are not using Advaced File Open.

We're getting this error:

Hi,

What all is being backed up?

Please refer to the following document if you are backing up exchange resources:

"A communications failure has occurred" (a000fe30 HEX or e000fe30 HEX) is reported during a failed backup job

I get the same error, but in the job that I get the error in, I don't back up any exchange servers. I do that with another job, and it works fine.

Hello,
In tools>options>network and firewalls please check the option to use any available network interface.
Check if you have any alerts in the alerts tab during this backup.

On my server, that option is already selected. I did however push the latest agent out to the server that it identified as having a problem with, so I'll see if that helps.

for starters upgrade to build 5520 with SP1 - usually best to test on the latest build and sp.

are you running norton antivirus? if so, check:
