11d (7170.63) RALUS doen't work on x86_64?

There are several other threads on this, but they're all old and locked (and most never came to a conclusion), so please bear with me starting over here.

BackupExec Server: WS2003 i386 with BE 11d.7170 (up to HF70)

Client: RHEL5.5 x86_64 with BE 11d.7170 RALUS (7170.63)

I can browse the client OK from the server. But when an actual backup job starts, the beremote daemon segfaults on the client with this message:

beremote[26335]: segfault at 00002abf00000000 rip 0000003dfb2807d0 rsp 00000000442c0fc8 error 4

This seems to afflict a lot of people in 11d, 12.5, and 2010 (which I haven't upgraded to, yet). Is there a resolution?

According to the BE 11d SCL, RHEL 5.5 is not supported.  See the SCL below

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH50180&actp=search&viewlocale=en_U...

Only RHEL 5.4 is supported by BE 2010.  Going by past history, any support for RHEL 5.5 will be by BE 2010 R2 or higher versions.  It is unlikely that BE 11d will ever support RHEL 5.5.

But my 32-bit RHEL5.5 machines work just fine with 11d... am I just lucky, then?

Yes and there is no guarantee that future updates will not spoil the party.
