2 drives in an tape library

I am in the process of adding a second LTO2 tape drive to my Dell PowerVault 132T so I'm trying to understand how I control how BEWS uses the second drive. Does it use 2 drives for 1 job or do you need to schedule 2 jobs that run at the same time? I couldn't find much info on the website.

Thanks,

Greetings,

Backup Exec does not use both the drives for a single backup job. However, you may create a drive pool and run concurrent backup jobs to individual drives.

Library Expansion Option(LEO) license is required to support 2 drive robotic library. You may contact sales to purchase this license.

So does that mean that partitioning the library is unnecessary since I need to select the tape drive in the Device job setting instead of the partition?

Please make sure that while you select partition the autoloader, ensure that tapes are present in the slots so that when you fire job to the partitions there are tapes present for you to carry out the job.

Kindly refer the following technote as they would surely help you.

a) Title:- Creating, configuring, and targeting a backup job to a Robotic Library partition in VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.x for Windows Servers

b) Title:- How to partition a loader and still be able to target a specific drive to be used for a backup operation

We hope this helps.
