Windows SBS 2003 SP2, running Exchange and SQL. BackupExec 11d. REV 70GB external drive, USB 2.0 attached.
Most jobs run fine. About once a week, the job will not be able to complete over-night because throughput drops from around 300MB/min to less than 10MB/min.
There is no network involved, the data is going straight from the RAID array onto the REV drive.
The REV is being used as a removable backup to disk folder.
NT Backup works fine, copying files back and forth to the REV works fine. Running short test jobs against the REV drive works fine, but then the same cartridge that tested good during the day will fail that night.
A SCSI attached tape drive (DLT 40/80) runs the exact same job with no problems.
