In Version 9.X this option is not available. Is there a work around too this? @ a client sight a previous Eng changed the subject line when backup Exec was on 8.6 after upgrading it to 9.0 his changes are locked in and are hindering automatic reporting by spliting the subject into the body of the email.

If I needed to get this back to standard will going to 9.1 bring it back into standared?

Is there an unsupported work around to get back to standard?

Is the 9.0 > 9.1 patch a free patch or does it require a new Key?

Any assistance would be greatly appriciated.

I doubt that the v9.1 upgrade (which will accept all your v9.0 serials) will change this.

You probably need to uninstall/re-install BackupExec to get the default behavior back. See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/260054.htm to save all local info.

What version of Backup exec are you currently using? Is it 9.1 or 9.0? As per the technote that you had refereed to, in version 9.1, the Notification Module has been updated to reflect the media server name and job name in the subject line of the notification. The subject line of notification emails will now have the following format:

Backup Exec Alert: (Server: "Server name") (Job: "Job Name")

In case you wish to upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1, it is free upgrade and you can continus using the same serial numbers as already told by Mr.Putnam. Here are the linls that will be helpful in this regard:
