9.1 Backup Problems - Skipped Files & Long Backup Times

See below for detailed information.

My question is that on SERVER8 some files are in use and being skipped. That says to me that the OFO is not working properly. Is that correct?

Also SERVER2 is approximately half the size of SERVER8 (NT4) but SERVER2 (in a different building) backups up in about 55 minutes but SERVER8 took 4 hours. SERVER1 (the backup server), the PowerVault LTO2, and SERVER8 are all in the same room. What causing the performance problem on SERVER8? What should I try to resolve this problem.

No matter what I seem to do SERVER7 refuses to work. We hope to get an agreement to retire that server. SERVER7 is a (please don't laugh) NT4 and a P133.

Order Server Start End Amt.
1 SERVER1 11:17 11:25 9 GB
2 SERVER2 11:44 12:37 29 GB
3 SERVER3 12:39 1:02 15 GB
4 SERVER4 1:06 1:14 12 GB
5 SERVER5 1:29 1:35 2 GB
6 SERVER6 1:38 1:41 1 GB
8 SERVER8 4:26 8:26 64 GB (7 Files in use were skipped on C: and 41 Files in use were skipped on E: )

7 SERVER7 0 GB

Hello,

Please check the technote below to help you resolve the error "Snapshot error (0x17): Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
- A communications failure occurred on the backup device

http://support.veritas.com/docs/266260

Also please check the AOFO configurations:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/274305

Also please check whether there is anti-virus running during the backups. If yes then please stop the Anti-virus service and then verify.

For slow backups please see the foll technote:

Thanks,

Ok, lowering the OFO quiet time resolved the the skipped files problem and backup is completing.

Now I just need the backup to complete faster than seven hours. We are backing about 135GB. Hopefully moving to the new server will resolve the time issue.

Thanks for the help.
