If I create a media set with an APP of 0 days and OPP of 6 days for a differential job, at the start of the job it won't append rite?

Yes. That is correct.  There will be no appending for your jobs.

Yes. That is correct.  Your tape will be overwritten.  Set your job property to Overwrite Media.
