Access denied error

I am getting the error "Access is denied to Remote Agent." I am able to connect to the workstation and select the files to be backed up (which means the user name/password are correct), but when running the job, the error occurs on half of the workstations. The server is Windows 2003, the workstations are Windows XP, service pack 2. We've already tried solutions posted to your website (checked the Local Policies - User Rights Assignment; and the Resource Credentials on workstations and they appear OK.) The odd thing is that we don't any difference between the ones that work and the ones that do not.

Hello,

As you can connect to the workstation Windows XP an dcan select the files to backup that means remote agent has installed successfully on the win XP machine.

-- Verify if the Backup Exec for remote agent service is running under local system account on the backup Exec media server as well as on the remote Win XP machine.

-- Verify if firewall is eanabled
-- Note: The Windows Firewall is enabled by default after applying Windows XP SP 2.

I have verified that the firewall is off and the Backup Exec for remote agent service is running under local system account on the backup Exec media server as well as on the remote Win XP machine. I used the Removeaa command in the Rant 32 Folder, rebooted the computer, ran setupaa and setupaofo commands to reinstall the backup agent, then rebooted the machines again. I am still deined access to these two macines. I tried uninstalling Veritas using the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel , the threw away all files I could find associated with Veritas, repeated running removeaa, setupaa, and setupaofo commands, still denied access. I am wondering siince I do have other computers that are able to complete the backup, if these two computers may have some sort of corruption in the registery files?

Hello,

Try disabling the Force guest on the Windows XP machine and verify the result.

Refer the following technote:-
How to disable "ForceGuest" in Windows XP Professional so that Backup Exec for Windows Servers can be installed on and can back up (protect) Windows XP computers
