Alert Waiting For Acknowledgement - Causing Problems

I am sure this is something relatively simple and hope one of you folks can tell me what I have misconfigured, My backups are set to report when the job completes and eject the tape. I get the e-mail telling me the backup finished, but when I look at BackupExec I see the backup as being active and an alert waiting to be acknowledged. Once I take care of the alerts the backup is then reported as being finished.
