Hi Tech Support people,

I have a problem with Backup Exec 11d 7170 sp3.
First my Backup Exec for Windows Server was working fine with one HP Ultrium 460 tape drive.
But just Recently I added a second HP Ultrium 460 tape drive on the same server and I tried to make to work on both tape drives.  So far only one tape drive is working.
1) I upgrade HP L&TT to latest version 4.7 and update the firmware on both tape drives to F63D/OEM9.
2) I ran HP L&TT Installation Check on the first tape and then on the second tape drive both found to be working fine.
3) I ran HP L&TT Performance test on both drive and result is list below.

|__ Device Performance Test Started on Drive (Ultrium 2-SCSI) (Tape1)
    |__ Testing with 2:1 Compression Ratio
    |__ Opening Tape Drive Tape1
    |__ Rewinding Tape
    |__ Writing 1GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 2GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 3GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 4GB of 4GB
    |__ 4 GB written in 72 seconds at 56 MB/s
    |__ Rewinding Tape
    |__ Closing Tape Drive Tape1

|__ Device Performance Test Started on Drive (Ultrium 2-SCSI) (Tape0)
    |__ Testing with 2:1 Compression Ratio
    |__ Opening Tape Drive Tape0
    |__ Rewinding Tape
    |__ Writing 1GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 2GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 3GB of 4GB
    |__ Writing 4GB of 4GB
    |__ 4 GB written in 67 seconds at 61 MB/s
    |__ Rewinding Tape
    |__ Closing Tape Drive Tape0

4) Checked the scsi cable and terminated were all correct.

Here is a problem when I created 2 backup job one for each tape drive.
The first one running fine at the rate of 1233.0 MB/Min
but the second job ran to backup on the first set of drive g: (40Gb) and when it finished backup on drive g: and switch to second set of drive e: and then it failed.
Errors:
Backup - E: cadr-E:
An unknown error occurred on device "BGB Backup tape".
V-79-57344-34029 - A hardware error occurred.

I am running out of idea and I'm stuck. can someone please help me with this issue?

thank you,
Little b

Is this the second drive in a library or two standalone drives?

If a library, have you installed an LEO (Library Expansion Option)?

If you run one small job at a time, does it run successfully on each?
