Automatically remove old folders from selection lists

Team,

I had a reocurring backup the runs everyday (shocking, isn't it?).

The data that is written to tape is sourced in a folder created the previous night inside of a folder named after the current date.  Backup Exec automatically adds the new daily folders to the selection list but I cannot figure out how to remove old folders.  Is there a way to only include 5 days in the selection without having to go into the selection list every day and removing the oldest folder?  Currently I must edit the selection list to remove the dated folders older than 5 days to make sure the tape does not fill up.

Here is a (crude) example.  The folders are named after the processing date:

/     04012012

/     04022012

/     04032012

/     04042012

/     04052012

If when our server creates a new folder with today's information, it is automatically included in the selection list.

/ 04012012

/ 04022012

/ 04032012

/ 04042012

/ 04052012

/ 04062012

It seems that the software would be also to automatically dis-include folders older than 5 days.  So the selection list would look like this:

  04012012

/ 04022012

/ 04032012

/ 04042012

/ 04052012

/ 04062012

Any help is welcomed.

Best wishes.

You appear to have selected the directory one level up from your daily directories.  This means that BE will add any new directories added to the lower level to the selection list and will delete any lower level directories deleted from the selection list.

You have two choices if you want to limit the selection to the lastest 5 days.

1) delete any directories older than 5 days.

2) exclude them from your selection list
