BE 2012 Exchange Agent backup and restore Exchange without having Media Server in domain

Hi

I want to backup an Exchange 2010 Server with BE 2012 (with GRT)

 

The BE Media server is not member of the exchange server domain and there are no Exchange management tools installed on the BE Media Server.

 

As i read in the BE 2012 manual management tools are required to backup an Exchange Server.

 

I did a backup and a granular restore, both worked. Tomorrow I'll do a test restore of a hole database.

 

Are there any limitations to use BE 2012 with this configuration?

While we have seen this configuration work in customer environments it is not something we support.  If you do run into an issue with either backup or restores the first thing we will have you do is get the management tools on the media server. 

You could run with that configuration for a very long time before you run into an issue, I've talked with some customers that have never had any issues.
