BE 9.1 will not overwite: "Media is write protected"

Hi

The problem: backup jobs fail with the error: Media is write protected.

I've moved the media to Scratch Media, changed the overwrite protection period, changed the Media Management protection levels, tried to erase, and tried to label the media and always receive the above error. The media shows up blue in the Media and Devices tabs.

The errors occur on all backup jobs on both drives. The media is not physically write protected. The system is a month old and the error started when all available media has been filled to capacity. The media has not been used anywhere else with any other tape drives.

I've checked the following articles already:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/242162
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/241298.htm
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/245145.htm
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191646.htm

The system:
BE 9.1 Rev. 4691 with SP4a
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4
HP ML570 G4 server
HP MSL6030 Library with two Ultrium 960 drives using HP Ultrium Worm cartridges, 800GB.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Hannes

Hi,

Are you using WORM Media with BE v9.1?

Please note that WORM media has not been specifically tested for use with Backup Exec for Windows Servers 10.0 5484 and prior versions.

Worm media is supported by BE version 10.0 Rev 5520 and version 10d.

NOTE : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked "assumed answered" and would be moved to "answered questions" pool.

By definition, WORM is Write Once, Read Many. If you have filled the WORM media up, you will need to purchase more.
