BE v8.6 to v10 ??? how much of a help?

I just inherited a network running BE v8.6 on a dell server w/MS server 2003. I havent worked w/ BE before.
BE has not been working properly, and for starters, if a BE pro could guide me through getting one backup to run properly would be GREAT (I'm missing something because the scheduled jobs arent running or are failing).

also, is upgrading to ver 10 a "must-do" improvement?

To start with, W2k3 requires v9.0.4454 or later.

you (or your predecessor) may have been getting user data backups, but would not have been able to do a Disaster Recovery of the server.

Since Veritas no longer sells v9.x, you need to either purchase v10 from them or a reseller, or look on EBay or some of the surplus sites for v9.0/v9.1 serials
