Backup of "System State" on the local server immediately enters "Queued" state and remains in that state, although backups without "System State" succeed.
The system is a Dell PE1950 with an attached TL2000 tape drive/library (with LTO4 tapes).
The operating system is Windows Server 2008 Standard 64-bit (pre-installed by Dell), with all Windows updates installed.
Backup Exec for Windows 12.5 is installed, and LiveUpdate has been run to install all the updates. This is the trial version of Backup Exec for Windows; we have submitted a Purchase order to our reseller for a licensed copy, but we haven't received it yet.
Backup of the local C: drive works fine. Installing the remote agent on a remote server (that's running Windows Server 2003) and backing up that server (including system state and shadow components) also works fine.
However, a backup that includes "System State" on the local (Windows Server 2008) system - or a backup that ONLY attempts to back up "System State" on the local system (with no other items selected for backup) - immediately goes to "Queued" state and remains there until either I restart the Backup Exec services or reboot the server.
The backup that remains queued has the following options set:
- Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available
- Use Advanced Open File option, with "Process logical volumes for backup one at a time" checked (I have tried both "automatic selection" and "Microsoft VSS" [Automatic])
- The only selection: "System?State\*.* /SUBDIR"
- Using the same media set as the backups that succeed
I enabled debug in the registry.
