Hi all

I have a BE2010 B2D folder that was once running on a Windows 2008 server and was archived off.

I now have a Windows 2012 server and will need to put BE2014 on it, can I simply import the BE2010 B2D folder or is it not that simple?

thanks

Bernard

Is the BE 2010 media server still present ?

And to clarify, is the storage a regular B2D or a DeDupe folder ?

VJware - It is a Dedup folder and the media server is not longer avaliable

pkh - THe BackupExec Services were stopped and the whole dedup folder was moved to tape.

thanks for your help

How do you move the dedup folder to tape without BE

Even if you manage to restore the dedup folder, it might not be compatible with BE 2014. If I am not mistaken, a dedup folder needs to be upgraded between releases of BE.

Hi Pkh,

It was not put on tape but on Disk in another location. Now we are blowing the dust off it to bring online if possible.

I remember when going from BE 2010 to BE 2012, a lot of users wanted to do fresh installs of BE 2012 and then connect to their BE 2010 dedup folders.  They were told that this is not possible because the process of upgrading to BE 2012 also upgrade the dedup folders, so I doubt your BE 2010 dedup will work when connected to BE 2014.  Anyway, you can give it a try.
