BE2010R3SP2 - Segment out tape slots?

I have a tape drive that has 12 slots.  Is it possible to have that segmented out say in groups of 4, so one job will only use tapes in the first 4 slots, another job will use tapes in the 2nd group of 4 slots, and a third job using tapes in the 3rd group of 4 slots without using tapes from other slots?

I have backup jobs that have different retention periods, so I'm trying to separate the tapes that are being used for it.

Yes, software partitioning can do what you want, but it has some limitations.

I would suggest using 3 media sets to control the 3 different retention periods you desire.  Simply create 3 media sets and set the overwrite and append period to the times you desire.  That way if you ever need more than 4 tapes online from the same set, you can do it.
