BE9.0/Netware: stop "Searching for backup set"??

OK, this is getting beyond annoying. How do you force a backup process (new) to just do the bloody backup, and not spend all day searching a tape for a "backup set"? This is a serious waste of time, and I can't seem to get on-demand backups to run without doing this "search" thing for hours on end.
