I need to move the Backup Exec database (BEDB) from a database server to a media server (to a named instance of Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition).
Backup Exec Media Server:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition, Service Pack 2
Symantec Backup Exec 11d for Windows Servers
Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition, version 9.00.1399.06
Database Server:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition, Service Pack 2
Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit)
The only documented method is to use BEUtility.exe. After starting the utility (New Backup Exec Database Location Task) it stops all Backup Exec services on the media server, stops the SQL Server Service on the database server(!) and then crashes.
The only trace of the utility is an event in the Application log:

Since the database move is very urgent I’m perfectly happy with a workaround to this problem.
