We also have this problem

Have tried he latest agents both those with 10d and 9.1

Have also tried V10 SP3

Have tried fresh installs and starting from a blank database. Have tried new users

All windows servers backup fine. You can also browse and make changes to netware drives logged in as this user so permissions are fine and has worked in the past

Have also gone through support as well and followed the deleted system account etc and recreating accounts

At this moment im attempting to go back to version 10 sp1 to see if it works but need to reload the agent to a version sp1 can talk to

Also as a note from debugging

If you try connecting as a user defined selection using the UNC path \\SERVER you can only browse by entering the FULL context of the username user.group.tree. (still doesnt backup)

If you try that format to browse the remote agent its rejected. You have to take the tree part off the username

Found the solution with a very helpful guy at Veritas. 2 things you need to look at

1) that the user has rights to the root of the tree (right click the tree and go to trustees). You need to make sure that every tick box is checked for that user

2) Make sure the login on the backupexec server is in the following format .user.context.tree

Notice the leading period(.)

Old servers may have been less strict and worked as did ours but 10d and sp3 need the above

I had the same problem with Netware 5.1 SP8 and a recent update to BackupExec 10d.

Thanks for the tip above but I had to use the following syntax.
.user.context

When I added the tree, it failed.
