BExec 9.1 - backup gives "Unable to initialize Remote Agent"

I have just put a new server on the network and pushed a Remote Agent installation to it - without problems. This is the second server being backed up via a remote agent - both are running Windows Server 2003.
The main Backup Exec is 9.1
A backup of the new server completes with exceptions - saying "Unable to Initialize the Remote Agent" - I am using AOFO

any ideas?

Can you ping both ways by both IP address and Machine Name?

Both machines on the same subnet?

Oh yes, both are servers in the same domain and on the same subnet.

Hmm

if you can ping both ways by both IP and name, and the BEREMOTE service is started on the remote machine, I'm not sure where else to look

I guess you could remove and re-install the agent, but that is grasping at straws

did you solve this?

make sure you can telnet the server on tcp port 10000, thats the BE agent listener port
