Hi
I have been backing up our Exchange 2007 information store for months now, using a 2TB External Drive.
Recently I have replaced the 2TB drives with 3TB drives.
Since then the backups fails within about 20 seconds with Error Code 8004230F
I have tried many different things from searching on Google, but no luck.
All posts refers back to the MS VSS Writer and issues with that.
I can however still back up to my old 2TB drives, causing me to think the VSS writers are just fine.
Any assistance will be much appreciated.
Thanx
AJ

Hi AJ,
Maybe some way in which the OS sees or interprets the drive.
Partition it as 1 x 2TB + 1 x 1TB partition, and try the backup again...

Hi
For maximum size the drive was converted to a GPT disk.
If I convert it to a MBR disk, Windows automatically creates a 2TB and 748TB volume.
If I then format the 2TB volume with NTFS, it still gives the same error. I cannot use the 748TB part as the MBR drives has a 2TB limit.
If I create a 2TB GPT volume, or even a 1TB GPT volume, backup still fails with same error.
I have got 2x 3TB drives, and both does the same thing. I can also access the drives and data on it, no problem.
I thought maybe BackupExec or VSS has got some limitation on the size of the physical drive? As 3TB arent THAT big.
Thanx

OK...and if you try SQL separately?

I do not have a SQL server to back up on that machine, however if I for example select the System State as resource to backup, it fails with the same error
