Backing up to disk. The status of the job is always queuing (never starts).

When I attempt to backup to disk the job displays as queuing but never actually starts the backup. Prior to running the job I verify the disk location is online. I even run an inventory, which completes successfully. Why are my jobs not starting?

There are a few reasons why a job going to a Backup-to-disk folder may appear to hang:
1. If you have the option "Allocate the maximum size when creating the backup-to-disk file" enabled, it has to "0-out" that file before beginning the backup, so if you also have the "Maximum size for backup-to-disk files" set to a large number, it could sit there for a while.
2. If the target folder is out of space or past its reserve setting, it will go offline until disk space is freed up.
3. If you have the option "Display progress indicator for backup jobs" enabled, it will also sit for a while while it scans all the resources.
