Backup Exec 10.1 - Backup to disk constantly loading Media

Hi Guys 

I have a customers server running Backup Exec 10.1 rev 5629

They have had a faulkt with the tape drive so I have set up backup to disk to backup to an external usb drive 

The backup seems to work but compared to other customers with a similar setup it is verry slow and during the job the status constantly changes between running and loading media.

I did find a post somewhere that suggested defragging the backup drive but as the drive is brand new and has just been reformatted with NTFS i dont see this being the issue

Can anyone shed any light on this?

What are the settings you chosen for B2D folder?

Max size for backup-to-disk file: 

And how much is your backup data?

Max file size is 2GB 

Max sets per file is 100

disk space reserve is set to 0 

and auto detect is ticked 

a complete backup is around 185GB 

Also its set up as a backup to disk device rather than a backup to disk folder

Try to increase the max file size. According to the settings mentioned by you, 93 bkf files has to be created to complete the backup. That may be the reason BE is going into loading media status many times. You can set the value to ~65GB and see if that helps.
