Backup Exec 10d on XP

Is there any significant disadvantage to running Backup Exec on Windows XP to backup several servers and some workstations?

We would like to set up a dedicated backup server but hope to avoid the additional cost of MS Server.

Thank you,
Rick

You can install the BackupExec media server on a Desktop OS, but will still need the Media Server License and the appropriate number of RAWS licenses and any SQL or Exchange licenses.

Just make sure that the XP machine has plenty of RAM,

So I would require one more RAWS than if I installed it on a server, correct (BE on XP to backup 2 Win2x servers requires BE + 2 RAWS, whereas BE on server requires only one RAWS for second server)?

Other than this, there is no other disadvantage?

Thank you,

Rick

You have the licensing correct.

Other than that, I can't think of any disadvantages.

Oh, and now I see that CPS will require Windows 2003.
