Just trying to reinstall Backup Exec 11d for a customer on a new SBS 2008 box.  Unfortunately, when you go to install, it only allows local console and not local media server.

Can anyone please advise.

Thanks

Hi Stuart,

The Software Compatibility List shows no support for Windows Server 2008. You would need a minimum of BE 12.0 to run on Windows Server 2008 as a media server.

Yup, Backup Exec 11 was released in 2006, so predates Windows 2008.

Yep you guys are bang on.  Fortunately they have got a license for 12 as well so installing that it seems to work.  However it appears the license is only for Windows Standard and not SBS so looking like I can't backup their Exchange

Give Symantec's licensing department a call and see if they are able to help. I am sure they will...

If nothing else, you should be able to get Upgrade pricing for your standard version
