My company recently purchased a batch of replacement tapes for the tape drive that is installed in the server. Backup Exec however only recognizes the old tapes that were used in the past. When a new tape is put into the drive, Backup Exec does not know that a tape has been put in. I tried to run an Inventory but it failed. Any backup that is run on the new tapes will fail.
The tape drive company thought that the batch of tapes might be bad and sent me two more tapes. However, I only tried one of the tapes that the tape drive sent to me and Backup Exec was still having the same problems.
The tape drive company also thought that there was a problem with the tape drive. After replacing the tape drive, Backup Exec still is not recognizing new tapes. I also ran the Inventory with a new tape and it still failed.
The new tape drive ran a successful backup with an old tape.
Any suggestions?
