I have recently installed backup exec 12 (and all is working well). I have two IBM LTO GEN 2 tape drives and have received some LTO2 tapes (Ultrium) from elsewhere in the business. These tapes were previously used in a Tivoli tape loader system that has been upgraded. When I put one of these tapes in the drive, and do an inventory the drive changes status to in use, and after about 30 secs it goes offline. I can bring the drive back online, but then the drive just sits at being in use without doing anything (I have to manually eject the tape and reboot the server). I would have expected BE12 to tell me the tapes were unknown or bad and then allowed me to do an erase so they could be used (I have done this in the past with say arcserve tapes to BE). I have tried numourous tapes and the same thing happens (the tapes are not old)
I know the drive is fine as I can put existing media in and it works fine
