I will make this change later in the week. However, I was able to find a fix for the problem. I changed the backup order to make sure exchange mailboxes are backed up first. This did the trick. Now all the mailboxes are being backed up followed by the other resources.

Hi,
the only TN I can find around your error is listed below:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH145390
Check it out, make sure there is no corruption in your Information Store (you might have to do some Exchange maintenance on it!), and ensure that you're not using AOFO during the job.
Report back with an update on this once done.
Thanks!

Exchange maintenance was the first thing I did. No issues were reported. I will turn off AOFO and see what happen in tonights backup. Post more info in the morning...

Hi
From above hotfix list you have given it seems the version of Backupexec is BE 2010 4164 that is R2 , I would recommend you to upgrade it on first place to BE 2010 r3 sp2 all updates which ensure BE 2010 is fully patched up & you are on the latest build too. also this upgrade is free and will use same licenses so once you upgrade to above version with all updates ensure you update remote agent on exchange server & then update
BE 2010 R3 SP2 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH178798
BE 2010 R3 Installer - http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso
Thanks

Updated to R3 sp2 and will post tomorrow on the status of the backup

Have you confirmed if the BE account meets the necessary requirements or not ?
Please confirm via these KB articles -
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH21357
And http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH87929

Yes, this have been confirmed. The problem can't be one of account issues as on some nights it backup all the mail boxed up to letter M and on other night it will stop at letter F. Last night it stopped at letter Q. So I am at sea as to why it refuse to work.

Are you able to backup using the native backup utility ?
05-12-2012 06:49 PM
If you are talking about Window 2003 server backup facility, then yes. That works quite fine.

Hi
From above comment of your's ,some nights it backup all the mail boxed up to letter M and on other night it will stop at letter F.
Are you doing backup of exchange using legacy way means to backup directly exchange mailboxes from backup selection. If you are doing that then this is actually not the supported way , I would actually suggest you to backup the exchange databases from information store with GRT enabled so that while doing restore you get single mailbox view

Thanks

Made the changed recommended and that works. Infact it worked really well. Its significantly faster and all the mailboxes were backed up.
