Backup Exec 2010 R3 Verify process takes to long

We have Backup Exec 2010 R3 for backup purposes.

In the setup, there are at least 9 servers that we shared and being backup every weekend.

Our problem is this, we have 2 servers that has a lot of data thats being backup and takes at least 5 hrs to back up and 13 - 15 hrs to verify.

These two servers are active folders, does this effect the verification process since BE is looking back at the folders and verifiying it if its disc backup?

Can anyone tell me how the verification process of BE?

Thanks!

All a Verify option does is ensure that the data on tape can be restored.

Thanks!

You can leave it off, but then the onus is on you to prove your data on tape is restorable. So you'd need to do regular restores...

The newer generations of tape drives that do hardware Read-After-Write should obviate the need to run a verify job

On the other hand, how important is the data on the tapes?  For most companies it may be the difference between fully recovering after a Disaster or not.  You should be doing verify jobs at least periodically to ensure that BackupExec CAN read the data on the tapes, should you ever have to

@CraigV and @Ken Putnam

Thanks guys will surely take note of your comments!

I'll use your options:

1. Disable the "Verify after Backup"

2. Run a seperate job for periodical verification
