Backup Exec 2010 parallel backup and about VM's

Hi Experts,

I have 2 questions about BE 2010

Is it possible for BE 2010 to do parallel backup to DISK and TAPE? how? 

Also, based on average, what is the backup rate of BE 2010 for VM's? cause one of our client is having an issue why is it that when they backup their VM's it took so long (beyond their backup window). Please post links or documents if there are any possible solutions for this problem.

If there are other topics that are same with mine, please do post them. I'm willing to read those.

You can run Parallel backup jobs on backup to disk folder.

To run parellel backup jon on tape, you need to have Multiple tape Drives. If its a Robotic Library you need to have Library Expansion Option license installed. Note you cannot run concurrent backup on a one Tape i.e two jobs cannot write to a same tape at the same time.

There can be many reason for your backup to run slow i.e( system issue , network issue or application issue Refer http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH49521 ) . Firstly make sure you backups selections are ok and you are not backing up infromation twice. refer the best practice document

In parallel backup, I mean that if I have a single job, can I configure it so that my backup will be both in DISK and TAPE running simultaneously? or would it be in a different job?

No. This is not possible. You can only backup to one media at a time.

You mean to say is that, 1 job can only be placed in 1 media either tape or disk? but not in both tape and disk

As mentioned above, yes. You can have one job either backing up to tape or disk at a time. You can of course duplicate the backup sets, so that it can be on both tape and disk.
